Sometimes all of this work on Marisol Search feels like a huge amount of wasted effort. I won’t feel that way if we get Mari back of course, but as many of you who are helping us know, it’s a ton of work, and a lot of the time it feels like we’re doing stuff but not actually getting any closer. In all that though, if anything we did helped, even a tiny bit, to get someone’s family back together, than it’s not a waste at all.
This is a comment that appeared on Christmas day on another one of our posts. We wanted to highlight it because it really touched both of us. Happy Holidays to you and your family Jane! And also to everyone who reads this and who is, has or will help us. You all mean a lot to us, even if we have no idea who you are. Sometimes it actually does make a difference:
I don’t know if you guys are in the mood for a happy ending story tonight or not, but if you are here goes: Our dog got loose from our backyard on Nov. 4. I have been following your story for weeks and sympathize with your anguish. We had a few unconfirmed sightings but nothing concrete until Thursday. She was loose in a closed military base six miles from us.We finally caught a glimpse of her Thursday night but it was dark and she wouldn’t come near us.
Thanks to everything you’ve shared on your website, we figured she, too, was in feral dog mode. She’s always been crated at night, so we put her crate with food and an old sweatshirt of mine out near where we thought she’d been sleeping. Christmas Eve morning we returned and she was standing next to the crate barking her head off. The smell must have triggered her memory because when we approached she came flying over to us.
She is home safe and sound – skinny, filthy and half-bald, but healthy and happy. In her mind it’s like she never left. I know this must be a difficult night for you guys but please don’t give up hope! Like you, we had friends, family and total strangers pulling for us and it did ultimately make the difference. For what it’s worth, please know that there are people you don’t know and will never meet who are keeping you and Marisol in their thoughts. I hope and pray I’ll be reading some good news soon. Good luck and God bless.

What a great ending- thank you for sharing! I have hope every day that you will find Marisol soon
I had read this story when it was first posted, and I was also touched by it, and it gave me even more hope for Marisol’s safe return. In fact, I found myself repeating the story to my husband as we were out resecuring our Marisol posters this morning (we’re part of Marisol’s Army). After I read the story, I did a google search and found more happy-ending stories of dogs missing for very long periods of time, sometimes in very harsh weather. The moral of all these stories seemed to be – just don’t give up too soon! We’re still with you.
we have so much hope always thinking of you all
Yes, I read Jane’s post, too, the other night. It’s a wonderful story and I wished that it renewed hope for you and Anindita in those moments when it must wane. Each time I go out on my route I feel such hope…such anticipation for the moment Marisol is found – and sadness when nighttime comes and there’s no word. With dawn, though, hope is renewed. That is what I continue to wish for you. You will find her…
I love Stories like that! Please don’t give up it might feel like it is taking forever to bring her home, but eventually she will come home!
Thanks for reposting this story. What a beautiful ending to a difficult struggle.
You will have yours soon!!!!
I’m sending wishes for your continued strength and hope.
Thank you for all of your posts here.
It makes us feel as though we know Marisol, and both of you, as well.
You are all in my heart by now, and my head too!
I think of the 3 of you so often, each and every day.
I hope that today is a day that brings some good news to you.
What a great story! With everyones hope and determination, Marisol will be home soon too. We’re all still here pulling for her.
Still checking, and still hoping. She’s a tough pup and you are two loving parents. You’ll be reunited!
Waiting for some good news. Hopefully now that things are “back to normal” after Christmas and the storm, the sightings will start to come back in. I think of you guys all the time, and I just wish there was more I could do.
I’m so pleased to hear there’s going to be a warm up this week. Perhaps this will bring Marisol out more? Hoping to hear of a sighting soon. Thinking of the 3 of you…
I am also happy to hear about the weather warming up. Come on Marisol…! Please let us know of any new sightings and absolutely do not lose hope. I was wondering about the scent trails after such a heavy snow. I hope you all are doing okay – this is such hard stuff.
Just adding my voice to the other members of Marisol’s army. There are so many people praying for her and sending positive thoughts into the universe, she just has to come home safely. Please stay strong and know that we are all behind you. God bless.
