I want to hang signs, what do I do?

We still do need volunteers, but we are currently out of these big signs. Let us know anyway and we’ll be in touch when we get more! URGENT: We need volunteers who live in high-traffic areas around the Fells who would be willing to keep a professionally printed, weatherproof sign on their lawn (similar to a political sign). We will provide the sign. If you are willing, please call us. 617 383 9228

1. Respect private property. Do not attach to trees, houses, etc. Do not over-flier. One well placed sign is far more effective than over-covering a neighborhood (which will make people angry and prone to taking them down).

2. Color is better than black and white, but both are helpful.

3. Laser printing is better than inkjet, because inkjet runs when it gets wet.

4. We can give you signs! Printing costs add up fast, so we appreciate it if you can print them yourself, but if you have a plan and want some signs/cards, get in touch and we’ll get them to you, no questions asked.

5. If you do flier, let us know! post a comment here. It helps us to keep track of the areas we have covered.

I posted a color flyer at the dog park in Union Square this morning.
I spread the word about Marisol there and handed out some mini-flyers.
Many of the folks visit The Fells often.
I will keep you all in my thoughts.

Thank you so much, Vincent, for all of your help!

        You’re very welcome, Anindta.
River Dog ( Union Square) and Animal Spirit
( N.Cambridge) were both happy to post color flyers. Many of their customers visit The Fells regularly.
I hope that Marisol is home with you both very soon!

I was driving around Winchester today (Highland Ave, Mystic Valley Parkway) and noticed that there were no signs in that area even though it borders the Fells. I am a dog walker in Stoneham, and use various areas of the Fells daily. I will post signs around Greenwood Park (by the Zoo) and Crystal Springs entrances, as well as along the streets that border the Fells in that area (Malden and Melrose). I have many clients who use the Fells on the weekends and will leave fliers at their house. I will also make sure PetLife,Arlington Animal Clinic, Stoneham and Central Animal Hospitals, Gone to the Dogs, and any groomers have them up.
I read your posts every morning, and each day that passes my heart breaks a little more for you.
A few years ago there was a dog that went missing in Arlington, immediately after arriving to her new home from Australia. She was out own her own for atleast 3 weeks (maybe longer),scared and not knowing her surroundings or even who her owners were. People were seeing her in Belmont and Lexington, but she kept returning to the same area where she had run from. She was caught safely and returned home!! I see her owner out walking her regularly:)

Hi Dita. I am going to be in Malden this morning and will post some flyers. I will hand a flyer into Malden Library, and will go back to Stoneham to hand one into their Library. I will also post one in the Stop and Shop on Pleasant Street in Malden and post flyers round the Malden T. I posted a couple of flyers where I walk yesterday, Fellsmere Pond, in Medford and at the Fells Resevoir behind the New England Memorial Hospital on Woodland Road in Stoneham. I will update you on where exactly I put the posters later.

    Hi There,
Wishing you success each day in bringing your girl home. It’s true – there are many near and far quietly reading, hoping, learning. I’m on the west coast, so mostly digitally networking to see if there’s something that could help. I’m in a Yahoo Group of dog folks in the SF Bay Area that exchanges messages daily. I see there’s a similar group for Boston Metro (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Bostondogs/#ans). Have you posted there or with similar groups? Maybe there’s an enthusiastic flyering volunteer force there ready to go this weekend. You’re in a marathon of love and devotion. Take good care of yourselves and please keep us updated when you can. Marisol has what it takes to survive and return to you and you obviously have what it takes to make that possible!

Thank you Purly – it’s amazing to me that we hit the west coast, but maybe not surprising. Thank you for your kind words and positive voice, it helps!

We have been in touch with as many of the Fells area/dog/hiker/biking groups as we can, but we always seem to find more. I’ll check to see if we got that one you mentioned and if not we will.

Thanks again! Best to you and your pup(s)

I put up posters today on Playstead, Grove, Brooks Estate, and Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, and the Loop Trail in the Winchester town woods. Noticed well-placed posters already on the side streets and trails into the Fells in that area. I was so glad to read of the sighting yesterday! You and Marisol have my best wishes for the next step of the rescue.

    Hi Anindita,

Like everyone who has posted, I am a dog owner and animal lover. I recently found out about Marisol and have spread the word to as many people as I can. Today I saw posters in Winchester, which hadn’t been there in previous days. I am making a flyer up of both Marisol and Daisy to put on the window of my car and I have your number and Daisy’s owner’s number programmed into my phone just in case I come across the pups.

Keep the faith, we are all praying for their safe return home!

omigosh…. im 12 yrs old and i live around the Highland Ave. and i saw some flyers of your lost dog….. I once had a lost dog, her name was shilah. i found her, dehydrated and hungy, under a rock, so maybe Marisol is hiding in the most obvious place or she could be hiding in the hardest place too look.??
    maybe these will help
