A year later

Thank you all for your continued thoughts and support and prayers and messages. Somehow, I never thought that a year later, we’d all still be here, and still without Mari.

When she was first lost, I couldn’t imagine her being gone overnight, and we kept marking time, thinking — she has to be back by the end of the week, by the end of the month, by winter, by Andrew’s birthday, by her adoption date, by my birthday, by her birthday, by the day she was lost. But time passes differently for dogs, who don’t know dates or anniversaries.

Today’s tough for her humans, and I can’t say much more beyond thank you for all of your help over the past year and for all of your thoughts and support. Marisol, wherever you are, I hope you find some bacon and enjoy today’s sunshine.

Sending hugs, good thoughts and a hope for a miracle and a happy ending for both you and Andrew. Always know people are thinking of you both and your beloved Marisol. All the way from Canada I send many good wishes your way. For my hope is that just like I read sometimes or hear on the news. You will get the very happy ending reunited with Marisol. Thinking of you Marisol while walking on the Doleful Pond Road trail this afternoon. Your army is still out there and sending positive thoughts to
Anindita , Andrew and the Queen of the Fells. :)

  12. Pat says:

I’ve been thinking, maybe you should try posting Marisol on http://www.findtoto.com site… It doesn’t matter how long she’s been missing, they have an amazing record of both dogs and cats being located after a long period of time. It’s possible someone found Marisol or has sited her lately, by using find toto, phone calls will go out to as many people as you can afford to reach, and you can recieve new posters, it’s possible someone has seen her or knows something about her location, please don’t give up on her…I’m sure she’s out there somewhere wanting to come home!!! Please consider using this site, I’ve heard only good things about it, if I was looking for my dog I wouldn’t hesitate to try this site, it can only help get the word out on Marisol again. Your all in my thoughts and prayers, I hope you read this.
Good Luck… Love you Marisol <3

Any recent activity or sightings? I still think of Mari every day and hope she is doing ok. I read A Dog’s Purpose recently and couldn’t help but think of her and how her purpose is to make her way back to you.

@ Sue…. i just read that there were possible sightings in the arlington area…i think the beginning of the week there was an ad on craigslist..about a lost dog in the arlington alewife area…

  15. Lauren says:

Just thinking of you all. Continuing to pray for a miracle…

  16. Lauren says:

Just wanted to say how thankful I am there are animal lovers like you in the world. Mari knew how lucky she was to come into your lives.

  17. Mary says:

Has anyone else seen a notice on Winchester Patch about a copper-colored small dog spotted in the Winchester, Medford, Arlington area? The description and localities sound so much like Marisol. I wish the person who posted it would post on this site so Marisol’s army could get out there with more posters, especially in the Arlington area where there are not many signs.

    • Gail says:

Mary, is there a link to that notice? I went to the Winchester Patch site and checked various links that seemed intuitive (to me, anyway!) but couldn’t find it.

  18. Mary says:

I believe the date it was posted was 12/1/11 and the person’s name was Bella. It said that the dog was spotted around Medford High School and in the Arlington, Winchester areas.

  19. Mary says:

Gail: the item is also listed on the Medford Patch web site on 12/1/11. I googled “missing copper-colored dog Medford area” and it came up. Hope this helps, Mary

  20. anindita says:

Thanks for all the comments and for keeping Mari in your thoughts!

Although we’ve been quiet here, we’ve followed up on all of the leads that have been called/emailed in. Bella, who’s a journalist, has been posting notices every time a sighting comes in that sounds like Mari. If we can get multiple sightings from one location, we can quickly confirm or eliminate them.

So far we’ve found 2 coyotes in two different areas in the daytime (one was sunbathing!) and 2 foxes. There’s also a Mari lookalike in Arlington. I’ll post if there’s any concrete action to take, but for now, these hyper-local news updates have helped us quickly identify what people are seeing.

    • Gail says:

Thanks for this info, Anindita. As always, keeping you, Andrew and Mari in the forefront of my thoughts and prayers.

      • anindita says:

Thanks, Gail! Sorry for causing undue excitement — I stopped posting every time we had a sighting because so many of these have turned out to be other creatures, but it’s great to know people are seeing the posts and continuing to keep an eye out and calling with sightings.

  21. Jane says:

    Still thinking of Marisol everyday

  22. Mary says:

I just saw a poster this morning of Marisol in East Arlington. At the top of the poster, it said Still Missing – Seen recently in this area. If correct, should Marisol’s Army be looking in this vicinity?

  23. Gail says:

As the new year settles in I’m still thinking of Mari and praying for her well-being and eventual homecoming. I’m glad this winter is so much milder than last winter; if she could make it through that, I’m hopeful she’ll have an easier time of it in the winter months remaining. Just wanted to reach out and let you both know that you and Mari are in my thoughts and prayers, as always.

  24. linda says:

on the Granite State Dog Rescue page it was mentioned about sightings of marisol….. IS THIS TRUE??? SOMEONE FOUND HER AND BROUGHT HER TO THE VETS???? IS SHE MICRO CHIPPED???
