We got a note from an ARL volunteer today asking for our help locating another lost dog. They have done so much for us that we wanted to try and return the favor as much as possible. Please spread the word and help get Buster home!:

Buster was adopted to a new family this past Sunday and went missing (escaped or stolen) the next day. Here at the shelter we all love Buster, he had been with us for 6 long months and we worked so hard to find a home for him. We are beside ourselves and if hurts to realize that a dog such as him (boxer mix, possibly pit bull mix) could have been stolen.

Buster is a 2 year old brindle and white boxer/pit bull mix. He is neutered, microchipped, and had a dark blue martingale collar on with his information on the tags when he went missing.

Buster is a love, he is so sweet and friendly, and he likes to play with other dogs. Buster went missing from the Highland Ave area of Hyde Park and we have had no sightings of him. Buster could be anywhere by now and the most helpful thing would be to have his picture everywhere.

What a sad story…I hope Buster is safe and that he’s found soon. My thoughts are with this sweet dog and his family, and with everyone who worked so hard to find a great home for him.

Thank you for posting this. I volunteer at the ARL branch in Dedham and walked Buster during the time he was with us. The more people spreading the word the better- as you well know. Given how heart sick I am about Buster’s disappearance — and he wasn’t even “mine” — I have a renewed admiration for your perseverance in your search for Marisol. My thoughts are with you.

  6. Abbie says:

Tell us more about how buster was found please. Did you hear about the cat found in NYC that was missing from the midwest for 5 years? there’s a lot to be said for microchipping!

ANOTHER MISSING DOG IN THE MELROSE/STONEHAM AREA!!! She’s a 2yr old Golden Retriever with collar, tags and microchipped. Went missing on Sept. 20th. Last seen on Franklin St. in Melrose heading toward Stoneham on Sept. 23rd. Her owner just moved to the area from CA, so the dog is not used to her surroundings. I don’t know them, but saw the posters along Franklin, (near commuter rail) and reached out to the owner to try and help since I live in the Melrose Highlands area. If you see her please call her owner at (510) 289-0713. Her owner says she’s extremely friendly, but b/c she’s been lost for a couple of days she may be skiddish. Any help I’m sure would be greatly appreciated.

  9. Lori Betts says:

I forgot to add, the missing Golden’s name on her tags is Chamois and she comes to “Shammy”.

  10. Lori Betts says:

Just wanted to let everyone know that Shammy has been found!!! So glad to hear she had a happy ending and is back home with her family.
