The past week

Thanks for your continued posts wishing Mari all the best. We’ve had a lot going on recently and no real updates, hence the quiet on our side. Andrew and I’ve been talking about our summer girl a lot because this is her season, and it always ends with, “She’s such a great girl. I miss her.” We had a bbq this weekend for my birthday, and we were remembering how she’d get into so much trouble at every one. I’ve mentioned the time she climbed onto a table and ate about 2 cups of leftover marinade at a friend’s bbq (this is the only time I’ve ever seen her walk away from her dinner). The last time we hosted one, she and her friend Murray escaped from our closed in yard. Mari’s the instigator and Murray’s a good-natured follower, so we knew who came up with this plan. They didn’t go anywhere, just sat on the other side of the barrier looking thoroughly pleased with themselves.

This past week we suddenly started getting sighting calls again, after several quiet weeks — and they’ve been tough to figure out. We got a note that someone saw Mari twice in one weekend in the same location. I followed up and didn’t hear back. I have the general area, but it’s big, and there are no specifics regarding when, where, or what this person saw. We’ve had fox sightings from this area, but we can’t compare our notes unless we hear back.

I received another sighting south of this area, but the caller wasn’t sure what she’d seen — if it was a fox, coyote, or dog. From the size description, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a fox, but it’s tough to tell any more.

And then we got sightings on the other side of 93 — one was a dog that turned out to be twice Mari’s size, so we were able to rule that out. The same day we got a call about a dog that was Mari-sized, but it was so underweight, the caller said she had no idea if it was Mari or not. This dog ran into a yard. We got one other lead today that I’m following up on from the same side of 93, and I’ll hopefully have more information tomorrow.

These sightings are different from some of our more recent ones (recent being a relative term, of course) — these happened in the daytime and in residential areas south of the Fells — which makes it even harder to figure them out. Has she moved out of the Fells? Is she traveling further to find food? Are any of these even her? I wonder if we’ll ever know.

I found this photo in Andrew’s collection — it’s one of my favorites. We’re taking a break in the middle of a hike through the Fells.

Happy birthday to you Anindita. I think about Marisol everyday. Was hugging my friend’s little sato girl the other day who is now fifteen years old and still tough as nails (and sweet too). She’s a survivor and I keep thinking Marisol is too. My best thoughts to both of you.

So nice to see potential sightings, and happy birthday to you! I have faith that you will be reunited with her and hope that this is the beginning of continued sightings so that you can move on to the next steps.

Happy Birthday Anindita and thanks for that great photo of you & Mari in the Fells. Glad to hear about the recent sightings and am hoping they are positive ones. If you decide to do visual patrols in the areas where these recent sightings occurred, please let Marisol’s Army know so we can be out there whenever you need us. Best wishes and positive thoughts to you and Andrew and continuous prayers for the “Queen of the Fells.”

Has anyone let the Daisy people know about the dog found in Malden? If it’s not Marisol I hope it’s her.

  8. Holly says:

Called this is a Female, but you have to go there to ID the Dog.

Happy birthday, Anindita. I’m glad to hear that the sighting calls have picked up again; hopefully one of them was Mari. Having a confirmed Daisy sighting after nearly four months reinforces my belief that both Marisol and Daisy are still out there, and that they’ll come home. Mari’s army is still with you on this journey, and as always are sending our positive thoughts, energy, and prayers your way.

FOUND RED-BROWN SPANIEL MIX (Fells Area/Medford,Everett)

Found early Sunday AM (7/17) along Revere Beach Parkway, Everett, Medord vicinity, a medium sized dog with no collar or tags, or microchip either. A friend (C.P) tracked this dog for close to five miles preventing it from getting hit by a car until the dog veered into a fenced in area where C.P. was able to put a slip lead around the dogs neck and get into the car. This dog is now at North Shore Animal Hospital in Lynn (781-596-0510) and safe for the next 9 days as this is the Dog Pound for many cities. The rightful owners should be prepared to bring info on this dog to the NSAH along with proof of vaccine history etc. and any photos of the dog if possible. Please if you think this may be your dog, go there IN PERSON and do not rely on phoning them only. I passed this info along to another person looking for a similar dog and she was given the wrong info by NSAH and almost left it at that. Hopefully she or her husband will be able to see for sure if this is or isn’t their missing dog. I will leave it up to the rightful owners to ID the dogs sex etc.
Address for NSAH is #1 Neptune Blvd. Lynn, and it’s across from the Y.M.C.A. Hours are til 7 PM mon-Thurs, and til 6 PM on Fri.

    Greetings from Canada!!!!

Happy Birthday and hope you are enjoying your summer. :)

Keeping you both and Marisol in my thoughts.

  12. Oh, I am so glad you posted this. Like many others, I follow this page and wait anxiously for any new word of Marisol. I’m glad to hear sightings have started up again, even if they’re confusing. We all keep a light on for Mari in our hearts, even if we live far away.

  13. Lauren says:

Praying one of these sightings is a true glimpse of your girl and that she is continuing to persevere in the ‘wild’. Forever praying for the timing and tools to reunite your family…

  14. Connie says:

I am also glad to see your post and the possibility of sightings. I think positive thoughts for Marisol and her family all the time and am holding on to the hope that she will be reunited with you very soon. Hold on to your hope and love for her; she is smart and resourceful.

  15. Pam Dawson says:

There was a dog sighted today in the Fellsway area that is listed on Craigslist. The post says the dog is not Marisol. There are pics of the dog. Has someone from the Marisol team verified that this dog is not Marisol?

    • anindita says:

Yes — the person who posted is a Mari volunteer and sent the full res photos to us right away. It isn’t Mari :(

  16. Gina says:

What a special picture of Andrew’s two beautiful girls!

(Here’s hoping the next sighting brings clear news of your Sol.)

  17. Jenn says:

Just wanted to say I was thinking of you guys and Marisol today. I just keep thinking she’s a tough, smart, little survivor. I know she is good at taking care of herself, I just hope she finds her way back to you guys soon.

I think of you all the time. Good thoughts.

  18. Jane says:

Like Jenn (above) I think about Marisol & you both and continue to hope for Marisol’s safe return home.

  19. Lauren says:

Just wanted to tell you both you are always at the forefront of my mind. Wishing for mari’s return this summer. I like to think the rich foliage and dense underbrush is keeping our little gal hidden. We know the weather is good, water is abundant and that little nose could sniff out some snacks. Keep up hope… There are eyes and ears looking. It just takes a perfect storm of people being in right place at right time with mari to help bring her home.

  20. Amy B says:

I just wanted you to know that I have been checking your website periodically for months now and I wanted you to know that Marisol is still in my thoughts and I hope you find her. I originally heard about the site back in December or January on Kiss108
